Gossip girl, an unknown source known for creating awareness in the Upper Eastside. Talking about the movie, I will say, it is a game that everyone plays once you get involved with gossip. This movie was written by Cecily Von Ziegesar and developed by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Gossip girl, the unknown blogger has a site also called Gossip girl {Voiced by Kristen Bell}. After watching the movie, I realized that it will make a good and wonderful blog; at first, I wanted to roll back on writing the blog, only so I could rewatch and understand more about the mysterious unknown girl, but after the overview of the movie, I understood that the movie speaks the truth about the cast in the movie, so I concluded in a decision by rollercoastering in writing this blog even due it has been ten years since the movie has been acted. The gossip girl in the movie; which I am referring to as the unknown, unidentified, anonymous, unfamiliar, uncharted, undiscovered, unrevealed, and unnamed other than the Gossip girl, might have been gossiping the truth but was also good at causing catastrophe to everyone, making them lose one thing or the other, such as Relationships, friends, and family. Before I start to condemn Gossip girl as everyone did in the movie, whoever she is, was never at fault, to begin with, cause Gossip girl, is only a site to dish out dirt and rumors, but everyone who was on the Gossip girl site was all ready to gossip about others but forgets that Gossip girl always turns the plane around from heaven to the road to hell.
Speaking about this movie in this blog, has inspired me to do more and watching the movie has changed so many part of my life, more like the part where Gossip girl says that we should not trust anyone, not even your best friend, cause even your so called best friend can double cross you one day . Ending the part of my feelings for Gossip girl, now I can start with the overview from the season 1–6 from September 19, 2007, to December 17,2012. This series was all about four best friends in the beginning and ended up becoming five best friends and their lives of privileged upper class living in Manhattan’s Upper East side .
The beginning of the movie opens the scene of with the Upper East side teenager returns, “SVDW" as abbreviated, but fully known as Serena Vander Woodsen from an untraceable and mysterious disappear/ absence, to escape from her sins. She came back to visit her little brother Eric Vander Woodsen, who wanted to commit suicide. Serena had an almost unforgivable problem with her best friend Blair Waldorf after she finds out that she slept with Nathaniel Archibald ( Her boyfriend ) before disappearing to boarding school. However, Serena started dating Daniel Humphrey also known as the “LONELY BOY" to Gossip girl. In the beginning, the Gossip girl made a joke about Dan, as the lonely boy. Nate and Blair’s relationship became a problem in the beginning cause Nate only had feelings for the GOLDEN GIRL {Serena}. Serena finally fixed things with Blair and ended things again cause Blair took Serena as a theft, who steals everything and everyone from her, and then they got back together after working out the issues and also quarreled again and again and again, which I would have listed out but I eventually lost count, so did Gossip girl, cause Blair and Serena’s friendship is the most complicated friendship of all, just like they are being controlled with a remote and that is the best part, cause no matter anything they do to each other they will always stand by each other as a true and real BFF.
They never stopped double-crossing each other as Blair couldn’t stop using her title as Queen B to do it. Nate and Blair broke up, this unexpected scene drove Blair to sleep with Charles Bass aka “CHUCK". Jenny Humphrey, the younger sister of Dan Humphrey; Jenny ever since the season, has been trying to fit in the upper east side by following around with Blair and as her friends. A new character appeared unannounced name Vanessa Abrams, Dan’s lover before but ended up becoming his best friend. Now a discovery part in the movie that shocked Serena and Dan, is that their parents were lovers before they existed ( Lily Van der Wooden and Rufus Humphrey). Chuck fell in love with Blair, he blackmailed Blair to end her relationship or at least slow it down with Nate, after Blair and Nate reconnected together, Chuck got jealous and wanted to keep it that way until Blair pushed him, he had to post in Gossip girl of her sleeping with two guys in the week. Lily got engaged with Bart Bass ( Chuck’s father) on behalf of Serena’s love for Daniel Humphrey. Georgina Spark ( Aka The Witch to me in the movie) a formal friend of Serena, came back to have fun with Serena, to figure out that she has changed but ended up proving to her that she hasn’t changed. At the end of the season, Serena and Dan broke after Georgina completed her scheming, by sleeping with Dan. Blair teamed up with Chuck to take the witch down, by calling her parents to put her in a car and get her on the road to recovery. Blair decided to leave for summer with Chuck, only for him to stand her up at the airport.
Good morning, Upper Eastside, how was the last piece of Gossip girl, I can tell how it was only from your comments. Starting up the overview of season two, I will say it is a wake-up call for everyone. Starting as a senior for the first and last time should be a day to remember. This season speaks more about Blair and Chuck, the heart of Gossip girl. Gossip girl exposed lots of interesting secrets in this season, as the Blair and Chuck drama on who first should say the three words eight letters. Opening the scene of season two, where Serena and Chuck were having their summer at the beach, Blair getting out the bus with another guy, Dan still having his worst moments throughout the summer since he and Serena broke up. Nate bangs a young woman, who is pretty much older than him only for money. Jenny starts up her fashion career dreams at Waldorf design, Eric, well also at the beach with Serena and his stepbrother Chuck.
Well everyone, was positioned where they wanted to be. Some part of this season or should I say half cause, this season was mainly about friendship and relationship. Serena growing prominence as a socialite, draws the attention of Blair as their friendship is tested when Poppy Lifton arrives, a socialite with Serena, who drives a wedge between Blair and Serena. Summarizing all the unexplainable parts in this season, Dan and Serena get back together for a while and broke up for another reason. Jenny is in an overconfident mood to start her fashion design, with the help of a socialite, name Agnes. Nate tries to protect his father as he struggles with depression. Bart dies in a car accident. A tragic scene for everyone and a painful scene for Chuck. Blair finally confessed how she felt to Chuck, however it meant nothing to him. Bart’s brother “Jack Bass"; is a very handsome young man, whose desire has been to have the bass industry to himself.
Serena goes on a trip with poppy and her boyfriend Gabriel, who poppy used to get people to invest their money. Georgina Spark, the recovery girl, who gave her life to Christ, came back with Chuck to help and as well fix her problems with Blair and Serena, but everything went off the wrong foot, and Georgina turned from Jesus to the devil, in other to handle what the four best friends couldn’t.
The story continues with different difficulties. Blair is not able to get into Yale, Dan and Serena face the fact that they are now siblings, Chuck, on the other hand, gets what he wanted and that is his father’s company from his conniving uncle. Rufus is still confused about how to get his little princess from falling off the bridge as Jenny files for emancipation but later realized that she will end up nowhere if she loses the one person that loves her. Vanessa got into New York University (NYU) with Dan.
Gossip girl sents off her last blast on the graduation, humiliating everyone, pushing Serena to go in search of who Gossip girl really is, but ultimately fails . Well to conclude before starting up a new season of an unknown source, little J, finally rules over, picking up from where Blair left off as Queen J. Blair finally gets Chuck to say the magic words, repeatedly with a love kiss.
Season three, focused more on Jenny humphrey, and all her master plan in this season. Let me get you up to speed. College first day for Blair, Serena (Not so sure), Georgina, Vanessa Abrams and Dan humphrey. While the highschool seniors at Constance for Queen J and Eric Van der Woodsen. They all achieved all they wanted, well most of them. Some were happy at where the ended off, while some were not. Great people talks about Ideas as life moves on, average people talks about things, future plans, people gossiping, others guiding secrets, meanwhile Gossip girl was still open for tips to lash out.
Amazing shows were been set up in this season, beginning from the time Blair got into NYU, and ended being Georgina’s roommate, a deadly point, two enemies in one room, kinda opens up a battle field, in which one will have to win. Chuck running bass industry with Lily Vander Woodsen, Nate gets into columbia university. The role of Gossip girl is slightly decreased through out the season.
So many new stars, were cast in this season , some were just guest for a while, while some stayed to the end, like William Van der Woodsen { Serena and Eric’s father }, Lily Van der Woodsen ex-husband and Rufus long time rival. Numerous amount of drama were displayed in this season. Scott, Rufus and Lily’s first son, who was abandoned by Lily, Vanessa found out through scott but was convinced by Scott not to utter a word, forgetting that every wall do listen. Georgina left to go and discover some hidden secrets. Blair and Chuck’s relationship collapsed because of chuck betrayal.
Discussing about this season, more shows was put on for Jenny’s development and downward spiral, she and Eric had their master plan to use on each other . Jenny spent half of this season chasing after Nate, who is in love with Serena. Jenny spent three years trying to worm her way into the world of Serena, there by hurting the people that she loves, including her brother, thereby ending up with no one . Well at the end, crazy things happened to everyone. Georgina was sent off to God knows where and abandoned, Nate and Serena broke up, Serena ends up with no one. Jenny lost her virginity to Chuck. Rufus, Lily, Eric, were disappointed in Jenny after all that she pulled off in almost destroying the family, she was sent off to live with her mother in Hudson, New York, Dan still lonely, but later had the shock of his life, as Georgina show up at his house pregnant for him, Blair hated Chuck for what he did, thereby making him know that the little time the spent together was a mistake. However Chuck on the other hand was heartbroken, from his mom’s drama to his uncle and Blair, throughout the year has been painful for him. This season ended dramatically with Chuck getting robbed and shot.
Gossip girl under construction for the first time in this movie. The cast shows the audience more of games in this season to unravel the confusion and betrayals. Getting to the unknown origin, arrow puts around a secretive girl with an agenda against Serena involving her disoriented past, who goes by the name Juliet sharps. First of all, in the beginning of the season to the end made me understand that this particular season was separate into two parts. The first half, unravels the reveal that Lily, Serena’s mother was behind Juliet brother Ben, Serena’s teacher in boarding school going to jail for assault .
This caused Serena to almost lose her life, only cause Lily thought that her daughter and Ben were in a relationship, which was confirmed wrong by Serena, for which an innocent young man suffers in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. The second half , reveals to Chuck and Blair turbulent relationship after their break up, Chuck faces a huge problem with his father’s enemy, Russel thorpe, trying to regain control of bass industry. Chuck couldn’t let his father’s legacy to fade, so he went into a relationship with his daughter, Raina thorpe. Dan and Blair grew into becoming very good friends as Blair and Serena were in columbia in the beginning of this season and ended up becoming roommate in Blair’s house. The arrival of an imposter Serena’s cousin Charlie Rhodes. By the end , Serena is single but still ready to mingle, Blair has ignored Chuck for good, Dan has told Vanessa that they are no longer friends. Lily’s on house arrest.
Flashback to the first two episodes of the season took place with Serena, Blair and injured Chuck in paris. While in paris, Blair meets a young handsome french prince, “Louis Grimaldi”, to whom she later becomes engaged at the end .
Almost coming to the end of the Gossip girl overview, this season was full of confusion, everyone were literally confused. This brings out the fun in this season. Meanwhile everyone were confused, Gossip girl was cooking up something new for the cast and audience. This season starts with Serena getting a new job in Los Angeles, Chuck and Nate decides to visit her job, Chuck still in pain for losing Blair to Louis, Nate having an affair with a woman older than him named Diana Payne, who has an ulterior motive for him, Dan released that Vanessa stole his book ( INSIDE) and published it anonymously. Blair still planning her wedding, Dan finally becomes known as the writer of inside, that almost ruined his relationship with his friends . Blair figures out that she is pregnant for Louis, making her realize how much she loves Chuck and was ready to flee with him, untill they had an unbearable accident, Blair loses her child, Chuck almost died . Serena started having feelings for Dan, Charlie runs away from her sins . Blair got married to Louis after professing her feelings for Chuck . Half of the season discussed more about Nate and his company Nyspectators, Blair and Dan’s friendship grew to an unexpected relationship, Serena felt heartbroken that Dan choose to be with Blair . Chuck still in a mission to find his real parents, which leads him to discover that Bart is alive, and has been running from someone, Cece died, this affected Lily and her marriage with Rufus. Blair had a choice to choose between Dan or Chuck, while choosing, Dan and Serena were having an affair . Lily had to choose between Bart and Rufus . Lily in war with Charlie aka Ivy Dickens, who Cece left everything too. Chuck regrets knowing that his father is alive, Blair asked Serena to live her house, Dan had nothing to do with Serena after the evil act she pulled up While Nate was still running his company the Nyspectators. Dan decides to write a new book about the Upper East side with the help of Georgina, Serena leaves town, while Dan and Georgina sets of to Italy.
Season six, the final season for Gossip girl. While writing this blog on this particular season, reminds me of highschool. Dan humphrey made me enjoy this movie more, and reminded me of myself in highschool. The lonely boy, was one word for it but there were others like the duff, Dan was more like a duff in this movie only cause he wasn’t part of their world, but here is the problems with this becoming part of a world in this movie is that you will have to be born into it, more like a birth right, one which Dan never had in this movie. This season started off with Chuck and Blair with their decision to be equals before any other plan. Lily chooses Bart as her husband. Ivy in a mission to ruin Lily for good. Serena in love with someone older than her, who happens to have a seventeen year old daughter. Dan publishing his book chapter by chapter with everyone’s name on each of the chapters causing another problem . Rufus in love with Ivy Dickens, Chuck figuring out that his father was into some illegal business. Bart threntened him to leave town and never come back or he will lose his friends . Nate goes to jail for fraud. In summarizing all, Bart dies, Chuck and Blair finally got married. Nate got out of prison, Lily ends up with her ex-husband William. Dan writes his final chapter about Gossip girl and gives it to Nate. Everyone in the movie were shocked including the audience watching the movie, no one expected that Gossip girl will be Daniel Humphrey the lonely boy from Brooklyn, many thought it was Dorota, including Blair, while some thought it was Nate. In the end, Nate became successful and famous, rumored had it that he is running for mayor, well I can’t tell for sure. This movie ends with Chuck and Blair having a child{ Henry Bass}. The last scene shows everyone gathering along, including Jack Bass and Georgina ( Who ended up together)and also Jenny and Eric, who came back for Dan and Serena’s Wedding.
The movie ended with Gossip girl finally known, the site finally closed for good, but still didn’t end gossip in the Upper East side. Many are awaiting for a new Gossip girl to rise, someone from the outside wanting to get in, but the question is, “Who is it now"?now that is a secret we will never know. XOXO GOSSIP GIRL.
